 Disgruntled employees of the Central Bank of Nigeria who were let go in a mass layoff in 2024 have filed a lawsuit against the central bank at Abuja’s National Industrial Court of Nigeria, NICN.

 In addition to claiming that the CBN had broken their contractual rights, internal regulations, and Nigerian labour laws, they are seeking the court to decide whether they were deprived of their constitutional right to a fair hearing both before and after their appointments were terminated.

They went on to say that the procedure did not include the required legal consultation and fair hearing. They claimed that the restructuring-based termination letters were unlawful, capricious, and unconstitutional. The claimants also requested a restraining order to stop the CBN from terminating them without completing the correct processes.
