Lionel Messi has come under fire from former Everton striker Landon Donovan for ignoring the Inter Miami supporters after their recent 3-2 loss to Atlanta United and instead heading straight down the tunnel.

The incident happened last weekend at Chase Stadium during Inter Miami’s matchup with Atlanta in the MLS Cup Eastern Conference Playoffs.

Messi’s failure to congratulate the opponents after the game showed how unhappy he was by their loss.

As he walked down the tunnel in rage, the Argentina captain did not also thank the Inter Miami fans for their support.

On the Unfiltered Soccer podcast, Donovan expressed his displeasure with Messi’s actions by saying: “I don’t like that. Just shake their hands and say congratulations. Messi walked right off the field.

“Maybe in the locker room, they came out and said congrats or whatever, and by the way, your fans are out there too, at least congratulate them on a great season and thank them for all the support they have had.”
