According to reports, the incident occurred on March 10, 2025, at the university’s football field, where the male student, identified as Tony, severely beat the female student, leaving her with significant injuries. Witnesses stated that Tony attacked the girl after discovering she had sent a video of him with his side girlfriend to his main girlfriend, which was recorded a month prior.

The university’s official statement read: “Dear Bellstech Students, This is to formally inform you that the school management has taken appropriate action regarding the assault case involving a 100-level student on March 13. The male student responsible has been expelled, while the female student remains in school.

The statement continued, “As a student body, we urge everyone to desist from violence and behaviour that violates school regulations or negatively impacts fellow students. Bells University maintains a firm zero-tolerance policy on bullying and assault. Justice has been served, and the necessary disciplinary measures have been taken.”

We appreciate your patience, concern, and engagement on this matter. Let us continue fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive university environment for all.”

In a separate post, the university confirmed that Tony had been expelled and apologised, and that his parents had offered to cover the female student’s school fees, stating, “It’s confirmed that the boy who assaulted a female student has been EXPELLED. He has also apologized, and his parents have offered to cover the girl’s school fees.”

The incident sparked widespread outrage online, with many demanding justice for the victim. The university’s swift action has been met with mixed reactions from the public, with some praising the decision and others questioning the circumstances leading up to the assault.
