Easter: Bukina Faso President, Traoré releases statement as regard to its fighting force

Burkina Faso’s transitional leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has extended his well wishes to Christians as they observe this year’s Easter festivities.

Traoré shared the message via his official X account on Sunday.

He said, “After forty days of spiritual effort and deprivation, the Christian faithful celebrate the Resurrection of Christ today.”

The military ruler added that, “May divine favours accompany our fighting forces in the defence of our homeland, our dignity, and our sovereignty.

“Happy Christian Day to the Christians of Burkina Faso and the rest of the world.”

His statement coincided with global Easter commemorations held on Sunday.

It’s worth noting that Traoré assumed power in September 2022.

On April 7, 2025, the leader also suggested that democratic systems do not typically foster development.
