The Edo State populace has been instructed by the Nigeria Police to vote in the governorship election and then go back to their homes.
This warning was given in an interview on Channels Television on Friday by Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Frank Mbah, who is in charge of election security. He stated that only those who have been accredited to watch the poll will be permitted on the streets.
He said that the state will impose restrictions on vehicle mobility from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and that the police had changed the curfew duration in response to community objections.
Political party supporters from other states are currently in Edo, according to Mbah, because the poll is being held at an off-cycle period.
According to the DIG, everyone in the state for the election, including journalists, observers, and politicians, must be protected by the police.
