Godwin Obaseki, the immediate former governor of Edo State, has started what he called a “post-tenure vacation.”
Obaseki said that he would be able to “rest and undergo extended medical checks” during his vacation.
Crusoe Osagie, the spokesperson for the immediate past governor, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday.
Osagie said Obaseki, “Once again expressed his appreciation to God Almighty and the people of Edo state and Nigeria for the opportunity to serve.
“He urged all Edo people, both at home and in the diaspora, to continue to be hopeful and pray for the peace, progress, and prosperity of our state and Nigeria.”
On November 11, Obaseki handed over his two-term of eight years to Monday Okpebholo.
On Tuesday, Okpebholo took the oath of office as the next governor of Edo State after defeating Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party and Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
