Ola Olukoyede, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has directed the immediate arrest of two officers who are suspected of abusing a female employee of the Regional Hotel in Ojo, Lagos.

According to a statement released on Thursday by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the chairman issued the directive in response to a widely shared video that showed the officials engaging in unprofessional behavior.

According to Oyewale, the chairman additionally mandated thorough investigations of the operation conducted at the hotel, guaranteeing that any officers found at fault would face appropriate disciplinary action.

However, he asked the people to maintain their composure, stating that the Commission will maintain its professional standards in carrying out its responsibilities.

“The officers were sighted in a viral video assaulting the staff of the hotel in an early morning sting operation in Lagos. The operation yielded a sizable number of suspects who are still being profiled.

“The EFCC’s boss has also ordered detailed investigations of the operation carried out at the hotel and assured that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken against any of the officers found to be culpable.

“Olukoyede assures the general public that the EFCC would continue to ply its job professionally and with profound respect for the rule of law.”
