The Makurdi Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has intercepted eight trucks believed to be transporting illegally mined solid minerals in Benue State.

The Benue State government has taken strong measures to combat the widespread illegal mining activities in the region.

This information was shared in a statement by EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewole.

According to Oyewole, the seizure occurred in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. The minerals, which are suspected to be fluorite and iron stones, were reportedly mined from unauthorized sites in Logo Local Government Area.

Oyewole also confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and once completed, the individuals responsible will be prosecuted.
