Former US President Donald Trump has stated that efforts to prevent further escalation of the Russia-Ukraine conflict are largely under control.
Trump made this comment on Saturday during an interview with Clay Travis, founder of the sports website Outkick Air Force One.
He emphasized that rational dialogue and maintaining good relationships with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are essential for negotiating an end to the war.
The former US President had separate discussions with Putin and Zelenskyy the previous week, aiming to bring an end to the war that started when Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
While the talks fell short of Trump’s goal for a complete 30-day ceasefire, they resulted in an agreement where Putin pledged to halt Russian attacks on energy infrastructure for 30 days, with Zelenskyy also agreeing to a temporary pause.
