Eid el-Kabir: Sultan issues new order to all Muslims

According to Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the Sultan of Sokoto, Muslims should look for the new moon of Dhul Hijja, 1445 AH, on Thursday, June 6, 2024.

The 29th of Dhul’qidah 1445 AH falls on Thursday, according to a statement signed by Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto.

The declaration states that the closest village or district head shall be notified upon seeing the new moon so that the sultan is informed.

The Islamic calendar’s 12th month, Dhul-Hijjah, is regarded as one of the holy months during which the Hajj is performed and Eid-al-Adha is celebrated.
