Former governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai is expected to appear in the Federal High Court, Kaduna, today for the hearing of his bail application.

El-Rufai, having been in detention for more than a month, was brought before Justice Rilwan M. Aikawa by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on a 10-count charge that includes allegations of money laundering, conversion, and possession of public property.

After a lengthy time in custody, the ex-governor was brought to court for the first time. On March 31, 2026, the court was set to consider pending applications, among them El-Rufai’s request for bail.

Remember that on March 27, 2026, the ICPC granted him temporary release on compassionate grounds after the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, in Cairo, Egypt.

It is anticipated that the court session will recommence today after her funeral has concluded.
