US tech billionaire Elon Musk took to social media on Friday, calling for the release of Marine Le Pen, the leader of the National Rally party’s parliamentary faction, after her recent sentencing in France.

“Free Le Pen!” Musk, who leads the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), posted on X, sharing a screenshot of a comment from former US President Donald Trump, who had criticized the ruling against Le Pen on his Truth Social platform.

Earlier, Trump had referred to the verdict as a “witch hunt” and demanded that Le Pen be freed.

On Monday, a Paris court sentenced Le Pen to four years in prison two of which are suspended, and the remaining two will be served under house arrest with an electronic monitoring device. The court also barred her from running in the 2027 French presidential election.
