Capital For Her, a youth-led non-governmental organisation, has disbursed over ₦6 million in grants to support vulnerable women, including widows and rural women with limited access to opportunities. The initiative, launched in March, has expanded to reach 20 women across Lagos, Ibadan, and Abeokuta.

The project is spearheaded by 16-year-old Emmanuella Olamide Folorunsho, who donated her own midnight snack allowance to kickstart the fund. “This project is about more than just money—it’s about restoring hope and helping women rebuild their lives through sustainable businesses,” she said

Executive Director and Matron of Capital For Her, Mrs Veronica Folorunsho, emphasised that the programme is designed to offer financial aid, mentorship, educational support, and pathways to economic independence. “Losing a husband is not just emotional—it’s often a loss of financial security and identity. Through this initiative, we are rewriting that narrative,” she said.

Beneficiaries like Toyin Omadoku and Toyin Adeyemo have already begun to see life-changing results. Omadoku said, “This grant has transformed our lives. I can now provide for my children and give them the education they deserve. My hope has been restored.” Adeyemo used her ₦500,000 grant to revive and expand her garri processing business, saying, “This opportunity means I can finally support my children and ensure a steady income despite the hardships.”

Mrs. Folorunsho concluded, “Empowering widows strengthens families and builds stronger societies. These women are not victims—they are survivors, entrepreneurs, and leaders.” The NGO’s comprehensive approach is creating a ripple effect that transforms individual lives and communities
