Ten protestors from the #endbadgovernance# protest were given N10 million bail each by the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday. They were accused of attempting to remove President Bola Ahmed Tinubu between July 1 and August 4 of this year.

While making a decision regarding their bail requests, Justice Emeka Nwite granted them bail.

The protesters must, among other things, produce one surety in the same amount, and the sureties must be Abuja residents.

In addition, the sureties have to be Abuja property owners who swear an affidavit of means and present property records with the court.

Additionally, the international passports of the defendants and the sureties, along with three recent passport photos, must be deposited with the court.

Judge Nwite issued an order prohibiting the defendants from attending any public demonstrations during their trial, despite dismissing the Inspector General of Police’s objections to the bail request.

The Judge directed that they be remanded in jail custody until their individual bail terms were completed.

The start of their trial has been scheduled on September 27.

It was stated that the defendants committed treason during their week-long statewide protests when they threatened to declare war on Nigeria.

According to reports, the offences violated Penal Code articles 96, 410, and 413.

The allegations against them were brought by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), who claimed that the accused broke into the Abacha Army Barracks and made explicit calls to the military to take over the constitutional government of President Tinubu.

He also claimed that they injured police officers and set fire to a police station in an attempt to wrest control of the situation.

Additionally, they were accused of inciting the populace of Nigeria against the government and destroying a number of public buildings, including a police station, a high court building, and facilities owned by the National Communication Commission (NCC).

Adeyemi Abiodun Abayomi, Suleiman Yakubu, Michael Tobiloba Adaramoye, Buhari Lawal, Mosiu Sadiq, Bashir Bello Nurudeen Khamis, and Abduldalam Zubair are the individuals who stand accused.
