The Osun State Police Command has issued a warning, stating that it will not put the state’s peace and security at risk.

The police issued the warning on Wednesday through a statement made by Mohammed Umar Abba, the commissioner of police, and Command spokesperson Yemisi Opalola. They also threatened to keep up their resistance and refuse to let troublemakers ruin the tranquil atmosphere in the state.

According to a statement released by Opalola, the warning follows information that some people were trying to disturb the tranquilly in the state.

The directive made clear that the anonymous people were not pleased with how the state’s peaceful EndBadGovernance countrywide protest was handled and terminated.

The statement reads, “The Osun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that it is aware of the activities of some unscrupulous elements, who are attempting to disrupt the peace in the state.

“These individuals are unhappy with the peaceful protest (END BAD GOVERNANCE) carried out by the Coalition of Civil Organizations, Osun State Chapter, which was suspended on 6th August 2024, in honour of the Osun Osogbo Festival.

“The Command assures the public that it will not tolerate any attempt to jeopardize the peace and security of the state.

“The Command will not fold its arms to allow mischief makers to truncate the peaceful atmosphere of the State.

“The public is hereby advised to remain calm and go about their lawful activities, and report any unlawful gathering in any part of the state.”
