Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, the leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the party’s candidate for governor of Jigawa State in the general election of 2023, has addressed several remarks made by Sule Lamido, the previous governor of the state, in his recently published autobiography.

Speaking at the party’s assembly in Taura Local Government Area on Wednesday, Mr. Ringim made the statements.

In his autobiography, “Being True to Myself,” Mr. Lamido recently revealed the political and other events that transpired in Nigeria from the end of the Second Republic, military intervention, transition plans, and the start of the Fourth Republic.

Ringim responded to the book by accusing Lamido of falsifying his political background and facts.

“In the book, Lamido portrays himself as a trustworthy leader who never wronged anyone throughout his political career, which is far from the truth,” Ringim said.

According to him, “Lamido is not being fair to himself and his political associates because there are several statements that are not true and need to be corrected.”

In the book, he added, the former governor accused former President Goodluck Jonathan of allegedly inflicting injustice on his son, Abdulsalam Abubakar, by detaining Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and other people.

Ringim also disputed Lamido’s assertion that the PDP’s defeat in the 2015 gubernatorial contest was due to the candidate’s avaricious and nasty demeanor.

“He alleged that PDP failed [in the] election because all my political allies left me during the 2015 general election where I contested as its gubernatorial candidate.”

“To make it clear, the former governor knows the roles he played for PDP to lose the election despite its strength and acceptability in the state,” Ringim stated.

“I know everything about you, your political journey, your personal life. If you continue to defame me, I may be forced to reveal things that will expose you to public shame.”
