After Manchester United’s 3-1 loss to Brighton on Sunday, manager Ruben Amorim responded to goalie Andre Onana’s most recent clumsiness.
The third goal the squad gave up in the Premier League match was directly Onana’s responsibility.
The optimistic low cross from Yasin Ayari was not handled by the Cameroon international.
Georgino Rutter touched the ball after Onana spilled it onto his feet, then slammed it into the goal.
At that time, defeat was all but certain as two of his teammates, Diogo Dalot and Matthijs de Ligt, collapsed to the ground.
After the mistake, Onana was unable to raise himself above the ground and buried his head in the grass.
“It’s like the team, ups and downs,” Amorim said of Onana.
“Really up, sometimes, and really low-downs. We have to maintain the focus during all the game to try to win. That is the only way we can turn things around.”
