Didi Hamann, a former Liverpool player, has named Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich as the club that can prevent Arsenal from achieving a quadruple this season.
Hamann is of the opinion that Vincent Kompany’s team will triumph over the Gunners when they face off in this season’s UEFA Champions League knockout stage.
This season, Arsenal is in the running for four major competitions.
Mikel Arteta’s team is competing for the Premier League title, UEFA Champions League, Carabao Cup, and FA Cup.
Arsenal lead Manchester City by four points in the Premier League standings, and they are set to meet Pep Guardiola’s team in the Carabao Cup final in March.
They are in the FA Cup 4th round, facing Wigan Athletic on Sunday, and have already ensured automatic qualification for the Champions League Round of 16.
“Usually in the past, Bayern have always got the better of Arsenal,” he told Thunderpick. “So, I think that was one of the reasons why Arsenal was desperate to show them, you know, this year is our year.
“Bayern have dropped a few points in the last two weeks. So Bayern Munich are not firing as they did in the autumn. But if they do get back to their form, I would favour Bayern Munich over two games.
“But it would be a fantastic game because obviously the first game was breathtaking.”
