Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he will return to Liverpool for the final match of this Premier League season, after receiving an invitation from his successor, Arne Slot.

Klopp has not been back at Anfield since leaving at the end of last season. He explained that he hesitated to return earlier because he didn’t want to risk jinxing Liverpool’s pursuit of the Premier League title.

Under Slot’s management, Liverpool have greatly exceeded expectations, currently holding a 13-point lead over Arsenal at the top of the table and poised to be crowned champions.

“Yes, the plan is [to be in Liverpool] but not on the bus, I will be there with the people I saw on the bus,” Klopp said during a fundraiser in Cape Town this week.

“That’s the idea to be honest, but we will see. I think I will be there for the last game.

“I didn’t want to go earlier to be honest because I didn’t want to jinx it all the time. If I’m in the stadium for the first time and they lose, ‘oh f*** sake’. So I go there when it’s decided.”
