The preferred managerial choice for Manchester United to replace interim coach Michael Carrick has been disclosed.

After dismissing Ruben Amorim, the Red Devils appointed Carrick on a temporary basis for the rest of the season.

Carrick has made a strong impression for Man United since taking over from Amorim, achieving four consecutive victories before drawing 1-1 with West Ham United on Tuesday.

Currently, Manchester United are not speeding up their plans to hire a new manager and do not consider Carrick the frontrunner for the position come summer.

Since Amorim’s dismissal, coaches such as Carlo Ancelotti, Luis Enrique, Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Roberto De Zerbi, and Oliver Glasner have all been associated with a potential move to Man United.

According to the Manchester Evening News, however, Tuchel, who is currently coaching England, is becoming the ‘preferred choice’ among those making decisions at Man United.

Tuchel will be available in July after the summer 2026 World Cup, as that is when his contract with the Three Lions ends.
