Gary Neville, a veteran of Manchester United, has cautioned Chelsea that their ascent to the top would not be flawless.
The former defender for the Red Devils claims that Chelsea won’t contend for major championships and that they can only achieve a roller coaster of outcomes with a youthful squad.
According to him, the Blues need to make at least three additions this summer in order to position themselves to compete with teams like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal.
This came after Chelsea defeated West Ham United 2-1 at home in the Premier League earlier on Monday.
“You’re going to get a rollercoaster of results with a young team, you’re not going to get a perfect climb to the top,” he said via Sky Sports.
“They’re going to pick up lessons along the way and we’re seeing that. They need improvements in two or three positions and they will know that it’s not just a case of these players developing and winning the league.
“They will need to add to the squad. [They should invest] in a goalkeeper, a centre-forward, maybe a centre-back.”
With 43 points, Chelsea is now 4 points behind Nottingham Forest, who are in 3rd place in the Premier League standings.
With several names recently connected to them, the Blues are anticipated to be aggressive in the upcoming summer transfer window to enhance their roster.
After the current term ends, Chelsea may rekindle their interest in Victor Osimhen.
