Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah has revealed that he held “serious” discussions regarding a potential move to the Saudi Pro League.
Negotiations for a new contract with Liverpool were lengthy, as Salah approached the final months of his existing deal.
Back in November, the Egyptian forward admitted he felt “more out than in” when considering his future at Anfield.
Following Liverpool’s league triumph on Sunday, Salah spoke to On Sport Egyptian TV and addressed the talks he had with representatives from the Saudi Pro League.
He replied: “It was a good opportunity to me.
“If I hadn’t renewed with Liverpool it would have happened.
“My relations with SPL officials are very good, we talked a lot, and the negotiations were serious.”
Salah eventually renewed his contract until 2027.
“The negotiations were long, I know the club’s policy [in negotiations], we reached a middle ground that made us all happy,” he added.
