Former Denmark goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has spotted a major problem at his former club, Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes’ absence from one or two games would be a major issue, considering the Portuguese has been their captain.

The Dane said that Fernandes has been the Red Devils’ ‘greatest performer’ this season, and his absence will leave a significant void.

The Portuguese midfielder did not finish the game against Aston Villa on Sunday after he was pulled off with an injury.

According to his manager, Ruben Amorim, the Portuguese will be away for ‘a while’.

Kobbie Mainoo, who could have replaced the Portuguese, is also sidelined with an injury.

Manchester United has already lost some crucial players in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

“That’s a problem for Manchester United. It is a problem, it’s a massive problem,” the former goalkeeper told Viaplay, adding that the Portuguese attacking midfielder is the leader of the team.

Schmeichel maintained that the midfielder has been by far, the Red Devils’ best performer this season.
