EPL: Xabi Alonso names three teams that will compete for title

Manager of Bayer Leverkusen, Xavi Alonso, has stated that he anticipates Arsenal and Liverpool to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League championship.

Alonso was commenting following his team’s 4-0 loss against the Gunners on Wednesday night in a preseason friendly.

Arsenal lost the title match against City last season, ending two points behind.

Since then, Mikel Arteta has only added Riccardo Calafiori to that group.

However, Calafiori was not involved in the game, which Kai Havertz, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Leandro Trossard, and Gabriel Jesus scored goals to win.

In response to the question of whether Arsenal will seek the league championship once more, Alonso stated: “Arsenal for sure it’s not just last year, they have been creating a project, Mikel is leading a great team at a great club.

“They are going to be challenging with the big ones for sure.

“City will be there, Liverpool are coming with other ones as well.”
