Lukman Salihu, a former Northwest Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), revealed what he described as the late former President Muhammadu Buhari’s key vulnerability during an interview on Wednesday.

According to Salihu, Buhari’s tendency to accommodate everyone around him served as both a positive trait and a significant flaw in his leadership.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Salihu explained that the former president’s inclusive nature heavily influenced how his tenure was ultimately judged.

He said: “Buhari lived a full life, and on different sides of the divide, there are different interpretations. Buhari’s weakness is his strength, and his weakness is that he has this non-interventionist attitude. He tolerated everything around him, and that appears to be his strength.

“Almost everybody could relate with him, and he would accept them as part and parcel of him.

“That became the bigger challenge, and that laid the ground for some of the major criticism around the assessment of his leadership.”

Buhari passed away last Sunday in a medical facility in London, and his body was later returned to Nigeria.

He was laid to rest on Tuesday in his hometown of Daura, located in Katsina State.

The burial was conducted with full state honors and attended by President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, as well as other senior officials.

Dignitaries from abroad were also in attendance to pay their final respects.
