Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy has tipped Declan Rice to become Arsenal’s next captain if Martin Odegaard departs the Premier League North London side.

Cundy praised Rice as a defensive powerhouse, noting that the England midfielder possesses excellent control of the ball.

Speaking about Rice on talkSPORT, Cundy said, “Defensively, he’s a monster.

“When he goes forward, he carries the team. He’s brilliant and in control. I think he will be England’s next captain, and I think he will be Arsenal’s next captain.”

Odegaard has been linked with a potential exit from Arsenal at the end of the season.

However, it remains uncertain whether the Norway international will leave the Emirates Stadium.
