Ifeanyi Nworie, the immediate-past acting chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, has made a significant switch to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This move was made official on Wednesday with a grand civic reception held at the Ezza South Local Government Area headquarters in Onueke, where Nworie was warmly welcomed alongside hundreds of his loyal supporters.
Nworie publicly pledged his support to the Governor Francis Nwifuru-led administration, citing the APC’s people-oriented policies as the driving force behind his decision to defect.
Interestingly, Nworie had previously contested for the Ezza South Constituency seat under the PDP, but lost to the APC candidate, Friday Ogbuewu, who secured 8107 votes.

The APC party chairman in Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, extended a warm welcome to the defectors, urging them to continue supporting the APC government. He emphasized the importance of unity, noting that crisis and bitterness are detrimental to everyone’s well-being ¹.
Okoro-Emegha revealed that he had reached out to Ifeanyi Chukwuma-Odii, the PDP’s governorship candidate in the 2023 general election, to join forces with Governor Nwifuru and work towards the state’s progress.
“The door of the party is like a church, when you repent, you will be welcome.
“We want everyone to join. The development of a state comes with collective ideas; we welcome the defectors.
“I have travelled to Lagos to meet Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma-Odii to join hands with Governor Nwifuru to move the state forward,” he said.
