FA Cup semi-final: I’ll never do draw again – Ian Wright

Ian Wright, a legend of Arsenal, declared he would never participate in the FA Cup draw again after being “slaughtered” by supporters the previous weekend.

After Man United defeated Liverpool 4-3 at Old Trafford on Sunday, the 60-year-old handled the semi-final draw live on ITV.

To prevent himself from seeing any of the balls as he pulled them out, Wright purposefully turned his head away from the bag.

Manchester City played Chelsea, and United was paired with Coventry City in the draw.

However, after receiving backlash from fans for copying blind musician Stevie Wonder, Wright declared he would not want to participate in the draw again.

On the Stick to Football podcast, he said: “Don’t ask me to do it [the FA Cup draw] again! It’s nerve-wracking, and if they ask me to do it again [I won’t]. He [Roy Keane] had skin in the game.

“Could you imagine if he’d done it and Manchester United came out against Coventry?! I was being neutral. I thought I was a very good neutral as well.

“I didn’t even realize at the time. I’d done Coventry and Man United, so we know what’s next, and I was so close to going, “Well, we know what’s next; what’s the point of drawing them!” ‘
