A signed copy of the Gavin & Stacey finale script has raised an impressive £50,000 for charity through an online raffle. The script was donated by Robert Wilfort, who plays Jason West in the popular BBC show.

The raffle, which saw over 4,500 people purchase £5 tickets, was held in support of The Theatre Shed, an inclusive theatre company that brings together disabled and non-disabled children. The company, based in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, incorporates sign language into all its productions and provides opportunities for young people to write and choreograph their own shows.

Robert Wilfort, who has a long association with The Theatre Shed, decided to donate the script to the charity after recognizing the impact of the show’s popularity.

“I knew the show finale would be popular, to put it mildly, and I thought it would be good to do something with that popularity,” he said.

Alice Connor, artistic director of The Theatre Shed, praised Wilfort’s generosity, saying,

“Being able to raise money like this is so imperative to help us keep going. We don’t get any statutory funding, and it’s been a tough year for us as a small charity, she said.

The funds raised will enable The Theatre Shed to continue providing access to the arts for disadvantaged children. “This money will create access to the arts for those who would usually be unable to access it,” Connor added.

Gavin & Stacey, which first aired in 2007, has become a beloved British sitcom, with over 19.1 million viewers tuning in to watch the final episode on Christmas Day.
