The arrest of Uyoatta Warrie, who fatally hacked his son Joseph Warrie in the state’s Eket Local Government Area, has been verified by the Akwa-Ibom State Police Command.
DSP Timfon John, the command’s public relations officer, told reporters about the incident in Eket on Thursday.
John said the assault happened on Sunday, June 1, at their apartment, 4 Ediam Street, Idua in Eket at night.
“The police are aware of the incident, but an investigation has commenced to determine the root cause of the death of the boy.
“Let the investigation review the actual true cause of the boy’s death, whether he was pushed or something else,” John said.
According to a source who requested anonymity, the victim’s mother owned a church near their home.
The source claims that after a miscommunication, the victim tried to stab his father with a broken bottle, but the father overcame him and stabbed him instead.
He was hurried to the hospital, but regrettably, before arriving there, he gave up the ghost.
The father is being held at the Eket-based Uqua Divisional Police Headquarters.
