The alleged assassination attempt on Lt. Ahmed Yerima, a Naval officer, in Abuja has been refuted and misrepresented by the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command.
The Command clarified that its agents stopped a car with tinted windows and a hidden license plate during a standard stop-and-search. The driver of the car refused to identify himself.
Three naval soldiers eventually identified the occupant as their colleague, according to a statement signed by Josephine Adeh, the Command’s spokesman, and the police then permitted the car to continue.
The police cautioned against disseminating misleading information and stressed the value of cooperation with other authorities.
The statement reads partly: “The attention of FCT Police Command has been drawn to publications by an Instagram blogger, “Mazitundeednut,” alleging an attack on one Lt. Ahmed Yerima at NNPC junction in Kubwa area of the FCT Police Command wishes to state that these publications are false and grossly misleading.
”On 16th November 2025 at about 06:15 p.m., a Police patrol team, while conducting a routine stop-and-search operation at NNPC Junction along Kubwa Expressway, intercepted an ash-coloured Toyota Camry driven with a concealed number plate and fully tinted windows.
”In line with standard operational procedure, officers approached the vehicle and politely requested for the occupant’s identity, along with an explanation for the concealments,” parts of the statement read.
According to ZINGTIE, Yerima, a naval officer, and Nyesom Wike, an FCT minister, got into a fight lately.
