Concern has been expressed by residents of CBN Estate in Wumba, Abuja, over what they say is the unlawful enforcement of a court order that led to property demolition and the forcible expulsion of families.
Blessing Oziwo, one of the impacted residents, described her experience during the tragedy in an interview that TrustTV News released.
“I met more than 50 boys at the front of my door, they were trying to break the door down. I told them to hold on, that I will open the door. Immediately I opened the door, they rushed in with me. I started fighting with them, I said go outside, I will pack my things, but they said never,” Oziwo recounted.
She clarified that she begged them to give her some time to collect her things, but they disregarded her requests.
“There was one in pink, I had his face on camera. I told him, give me just one hour, he said it will never happen. I said even 30 or 20 minutes, let me pick my valuables first before you guys start packing my things, he said no. They were the ones who packed my things; they were moving my things outside,” she said.
Oziwo also claimed that some of her phones and devices disappeared after her possessions were transferred out.
Residents have protested the demolition, claiming the exercise was conducted without following the proper procedures.
