At her rental home in Costa del Sol, a professional female bodybuilder known as “She Hulk” was discovered beaten to death with a hammer.
After investigators visited the property on Thursday afternoon, June 20, Zunilda Hoyos Mendez, a Colombian bodybuilding champion, and her partner were discovered dead.
According to police’s original statement, her partner’s body, identified as that of 46-year-old Jarrod Gelling, was discovered in a toilet with “apparent self-inflicted stab wounds.”
Zunilda, also known as the Colombian She-Hulk, had been missing since Saturday after traveling from Dubai, where the couple supposedly spent a lot of time, to the Costa del Sol.
Overnight, her family characterized Jarrod as “aggressive” and stated that they think he might have reacted violently when she told him she wanted a divorce.
Before heading to Portugal for a competition, Zunilda’s niece Yuleydis informed the Malaga-based newspaper Sur that her aunt would be helping nurse Jarrod following a knee operation.
After deciding to divorce him, she intended to return to Colombia by herself.
“‘For my aunt, it was the last trip, a goodbye”, niece Yuleydis said.
“She had taken the decision to split from her husband because of his aggressive behaviour.”
“They had broken up already once and were apart for quite a while but then got back together again to try to resolve things, although the mistreatment continued.”
Yesterday, just before 2:00 pm, the bodies of the couple were discovered inside a house on the Higueron West residential neighborhood. Zunilda’s gym buddy had raised the alarm, claiming he hadn’t seen her since June 14.
Yesterday, a National Police spokesperson in Malaga stated: “The National Police is investigating the death of a man and woman found lifeless at a property in Fuengirola.”
“In the absence of official identification of the bodies, initial inquiries are pointing to them being those of a 43-year-old woman of Colombian origin and her 46-year-old partner of American origin.”
“Officers went to the property on a residential estate about 1.45pm after a friend of the woman whose body was found reported her disappearance on Wednesday at the National Police Station in Torremolinos.”
“Her body showed obvious signs of violence and that of the man’s signs indicating a suicide-type de@th which is something an autopsy will have to confirm.”
