2027: Keyamo mocks new coalition party, ADA

Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, has made fun of the recently established All Democratic Alliance, or ADA, coalition party, claiming that it is not a merger and is not a coalition of political parties.

The statement was made by Keyamo on Friday in a post on his official X Twitter.

He was responding to the rise of the Nigerian National Coalition Group, or NNCG,-backed new political party, ADA.

According to ZINGTIE, coalition movement opposition leaders submitted an application to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday in order to register ADA in advance of the 2027 elections.

Nasir el-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, and former vice president Atiku Abubakar are reportedly in charge of the coalition.

ZINGTIE learned that Akin Ricketts, the National Chairman of ADA, and Abdullahi Musa Elayo, the pro tem National Secretary, co-signed the application, which was dated June 19 and addressed to the INEC Chairman.

Speaking about the situation, Keyamo said the action was an unsuccessful attempt to reestablish the alliance that gave rise to the All Progressives Congress, or APC, in 2013.

He claimed that the promoters were creating needless excitement, emphasizing that it is a feeble attempt at broad appeal and amounts to psychological warfare against Nigerians.

“This is just a simple application for party registration. There is nothing like a ‘coalition’ here.

“It is an unnecessary hype the promoters have been struggling to create all along. It is just psychological warfare against Nigerians, a weak attempt at mass appeal.

“No recognized existing political party is part of this. If they are thinking of recreating what the APC did in 2013, then this is nothing but a pedestrian joke, a complete mockery of that seismic political coalition that birthed APC in 2013.

“A few individuals exercising their constitutional right to form a new political party cannot be described as a ‘coalition’ or even a ‘merger.’

“This is no different from several political associations springing up every day for the same purpose.

“After all the razzmatazz, it boils down to the fact that a new political party is just attempting registration by a few Nigerians. It is a disappointing anti-climax to all the preceding pomp and pageantry,” he wrote on X.
