Splendor Emmanuel, a female Navy applicant, has revealed her first-hand experience with Lieutenant Ahmad Yerima, the naval officer who gained notoriety after confronting FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in Abuja over a land issue.
Splendor Emmanuel claims that she had a memorable encounter with Lt. Yerima during her Navy screening operation in Borokiri, Port Harcourt, in 2024.
Splendor remembered meeting Lt. Yerima for the first time at the Navy screening exercise in 2024.
She characterized him as a professional, well-behaved officer whose presence was respected.
She claimed that even when applicants were making noise, the parade ground would instantly go quiet when he entered.
She praised Lt. Yerima’s toughness and composure, calling him “a very cracked and parkard officer.”
Splendor observed that although he was a guy of few words, each one had significance.
She was particularly impressed by his bravery and poise in his subsequent public altercation with Minister Wike.
The endurance running exercise was one instance that Splendor found very memorable.
She described racing with Lt. Yerima, but eventually finding it difficult to keep up with his speed.
He grasped her hand and encouraged her to continue after noticing how exhausted she was.
Lt. Yerima was given recognition by Splendor for her successful performance during the screening.
She claimed that she was able to “enter the first box” throughout the exercise mostly because of his advice and support.
In her words:
“Lt. A. M. Yerima.
A very cracked and parkard officer.
During my Navy Screening at Borokiri last year, this officer showed immense professionalism and ruggedness.
Man of little words, but when he speaks, it carries volume.
Whenever we were making noise on the parade ground and he walks in, everywhere immediately becomes silent!
When we were about going for Endurance Running, I was running side by side with him, but at some point, I couldn’t meet up with his pace. I eventually caught up, and he made sure to hold my hand when I was getting weak.
He was one of the reasons I entered the first box at the screening.
Thank you, sir, for showing the world that military is not ministry.
Keep representing, sir!”
