Finally, PDP governors challenge Fubara’s suspension at Supreme Court

Eleven PDP governors have petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn the President’s authority to suspend Siminalayi Fubara, the democratically elected governor of Rivers State.

The governors’ lawsuit contested the state’s declaration of emergency as well.

The governors of Adamawa, Enugu, Osun, Oyo, Bauchi, Akwa Ibom, Plateau, Delta, Taraba, Zamfara, and Bayelsa states are the plaintiffs in the lawsuit, according to ZINGTIE.

The plaintiffs based the summons on eight grounds and filed the lawsuit through their state attorneys general.

They wanted the highest court to decide whether the president can suspend a state’s legitimately elected government.

In addition, the plaintiffs requested that the court rule on whether President Bola Tinubu’s proclamation of a state of emergency in Rivers State did not violate the 1999 Constitution.
