Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 election, has stated that he is prepared to lead an opposition alliance that will overthrow the All Progressives Congress (APC) when it comes to power in 2027.
This was revealed by Atiku in a congrats letter to PDP governors, whose elections were affirmed by the Supreme Court on Friday.
In a statement signed by his Media Office in Abuja, Atiku highlighted the verdict of the court as good news for the people of Bauchi, Plateau, Cross River and Zamfara states, and indeed, a win for constitutional democracy.
He restated his belief that Nigerian democracy can only be strengthened by a unified opposition force.
“I am as prepared as ever, to lead the charge, alongside all our leaders and Governors, for the good of our country,” Atiku was cited as adding.
“We, as patriots and citizens, will always applaud where Justice is seen to have been substantially rendered,” he declared.

According to the Supreme Court’s ruling, Atiku added, that “there is a guaranteed continuation of the standards of good governance which the PDP has brought to the respective states.”
He urged the respective PDP governors—Barr Caleb Muftwang of the Plateau, Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, and Bala Mohammed of Bauchi—to view their Supreme Court victories as a chance to build upon and broaden the scope of the good governance they have already established.
