The wife of the president, Oluremi Tinubu, has donated N100 million to the families of the victims of the recent tanker explosion at Dikko-Junction, Abuja-Kaduna motorway in Gurara Local Council of Niger State.

During her sympathy visit to Governor Muhammad Umaru Bago at the Government House, Minna, Tinubu announced the donation, stating, “We are aware the governor has done so much to rehabilitate the families of the victims, so we are looking at either under 70 families through the governor’s wife. Each family will have N1 million to help them settle and for other extra expenses like food items. We pray such disaster won’t happen again and praise Governor Bago’s giant strides in agriculture and infrastructure development across the state.”

Tinubu also commended Governor Bago’s efforts in agriculture and infrastructure development, saying, “I commiserated with the government and the people of Niger State over the disaster and prayed that such will not reoccur again in the country.”.

In addition to her donation, Tinubu met with former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, and erstwhile Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, at their residences in Minna.

Governor Bago expressed his gratitude to Tinubu for her “motherly support” and for sympathising with the state during this difficult time, saying, “Your Excellency, your visit speaks volumes in consolidating the existing relationship with the state and the renewed hope agenda.”.

He further stated, “We are indeed grateful for your kind gesture, and we pray that God will continue to guide and protect you and your family.
