Foundation partners to feed vulnerable Children in Jigawa State

The Abdullah Mahmood Foundation has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jigawa State Government to provide daily meals for 30 per cent of vulnerable children across the state.

Those to benefit include children in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, pupils in Almajiri schools, and children from the poorest households not already covered by existing school feeding programmes.

The collaboration was made possible through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on School Feeding, Dr Yetunde Adeniji

According to a statement from her office, the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places emphasis on inclusive development, human capital growth, and sustainable partnerships.

“Beyond tackling malnutrition and promoting school enrolment and retention, the programme also empowers women and local farmers by integrating them into the supply chain,” the statement explained.

Dr. Adeniji hailed the project as “a new dawn where partnerships fuel progress and every Nigerian child is allowed to learn, thrive, and succeed.” She further encouraged states to continue championing initiatives that secure school feeding as a critical step towards improving education access.

The National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, which is already operational, provides nutritious meals to public primary school pupils with the goal of improving health, raising enrollment levels, and supporting local farmers through local ingredient sourcing
