A significant portion of the grants, $3 million, is allocated to the North Carolina Community College System for the Golden LEAF Community Colleges Scholarship. This scholarship aims to support students from rural and suburban counties attending participating colleges, equipping them with the talent, knowledge, and skills demanded by local employers.

Additional grants were awarded through the Open Grants Program, including $500,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Goldsboro-Wayne to support infrastructure development in the McNair Heights neighbourhood. Furthermore, $500,000 was granted to the College of the Albemarle in Pasquotank County to expand health sciences programs and introduce a new dental hygiene program. Johnston Community College Foundation also received $500,000 to expand applied engineering, computer-integrated machining, and welding programs

Through its SITE Program, the foundation awarded $113,250 to Greene County to conduct due diligence analyses on approximately 630 acres of farmland.

Golden LEAF president and CEO Scott T. Hamilton emphasized the importance of the scholarship program, stating, “The Golden LEAF Scholarship Program is a strategy to help strengthen the workforce in North Carolina. The scholarship equips students with the necessary talent, knowledge, and skill to meet the demands of local employers. This initiative not only supports individual scholars but ultimately contributes to the broader economic growth of communities across the state.”

These grants underscore the Golden LEAF Foundation’s commitment to fostering economic growth, education, and community development in North Carolina
