Mama P, a well-known activist, has been taken into custody by the Edo State Police Command.

In Benin, Mama P, a staunch fan of Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, was arrested at the Edo State Police Criminal Investigation Department.

Yunusa Tanko, the Obidient Movement’s National Coordinator, revealed this in an X post on Saturday.

He wrote: “Mama P has been detained at state CID @ Edo State Police Headquarters, off Sapele road, Benin City.

“I have just spoken to our legal Director to deploy lawyers to her rescue. We want more people to come for her rescue. Lawyers and all concerned should please mount immediately. We need everyone’s support for her NOW.”

This comes after there have been conflicting allegations of an argument between Mama P and Julius Abure, the factional National Chairman of the Labour Party.
