During Senate testimony, intimate photos of Oby Ezekwesili and Obasanjo surface, sparking new scandal.

The internet is ablaze with recently discovered images of former Education Minister Dr. Oby Ezekwesili in what seems to be a very private moment with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, just one day after Ezekwesili stunned the Senate chambers with her fearless testimony in support of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s sexual harassment claims.

The two well-known people are shown cuddling in the now-viral pictures. One of them depicts what many have called a near-kiss or, depending on the viewpoint, a full-fledged lip-lock. Nigerians on the internet are enjoying the timing and optics of the photos, even though their legitimacy is still being questioned.

In addition to supporting Natasha’s arguments during her Senate appearance, Ezekwesili sparked controversy when she abruptly told a sitting senator to “sit down if you’re not ready to listen.” However, a lot of online users are now accusing her of selective outrage and hypocrisy.

The following are a few of the venomous responses from Nigerians on the internet:

@TruthOverTears: “So Oby Ezekwesili dey shout ‘sexual harassment’ for Senate, but she no talk when Baba Obasanjo dey whisper sweet nothings in her ear? Make it make sense.”

@TheRealAyoola: “This woman dragged senators yesterday, only for us to see her cuddling the same man she should’ve reported years ago. Abi Obasanjo get special harassment license?”

@ChiomaUnbothered: “One minute she’s a feminist icon, the next she’s in warm embrace — literally or figuratively — with the godfather of Nigerian power plays. Na wa.”

@NigerianOracle: “Oby Ezekwesili just exposed herself. You can’t scream fire when you’re the one holding the match.”
