The head of the House of Representatives’ Petroleum Resources Committee, Ikenga Ugochinyere, recently made a scathing comment about Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
In a video that TVC News posted, he stated, “You thought in your desperation that when you join APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will give you the necessary rights to illegally remove the governor.”
In the midst of the recent political unrest in Rivers State, where Wike’s support for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) has generated controversy, Ugochinyere made the remark.
Ugochinyere’s worries regarding the abuse of political authority for private benefit are emphasized in the statement.
He charged that Wike was trying to utilize his affiliation with the APC to illegally oust Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Ugochinyere’s comment highlights the extreme political strategies some people use to undermine democracy for their own or their party’s benefit.
