Donald Trump, the incoming US president, has received a strong warning from Germany and France not to try to takeover Greenland.

According to information acquired, Trump has stated time and time again that he wants to purchase Greenland, claiming that the Arctic island, which is controlled by Denmark, is essential to both national and economic security.

It was reported that during his first term in 2019, the president-elect gave the proposal some thought.

Despite advocating for independence from Denmark, Greenland has reaffirmed that it is not for sale.

Greenland is not for sale, according to Denmark, a longtime ally of the United States, which maintains that the island belongs to its people.

Trump emphasized his preparedness to use economic tariffs or military might to seize control of Greenland.

According to a statement on Wednesday, Germany’s chancellor, Olaf Scholz, said Trump’s remarks had sparked incomprehension among European leaders.

“The principle of the inviolability of borders applies to every country—regardless of whether it is east of us or to the west—and every state must respect that, regardless of whether it is a small country or a very powerful state,” the statement reads.

Jean-Noël Barrot earlier, French foreign minister, said Europe would stand up in defence of international law.

“There is no question of the EU letting other nations in the world, whoever they may be, attack its sovereign borders,” Barrot said.
