Globacom’s social responsibility arm, Glo Foundation, held a graduation ceremony in Lagos for the first set of participants in its Skillbridge training programme. The programme is designed to equip Lagos Waste Management Authority street sweepers with valuable soft and digital skills.

Jumobi Mofe-Damijo, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Globacom, said, “They have provided strong feedback to us that investing in our community and creating opportunities for the staff of LAWMA is a great way to give back to society.” She added, “We know that this training has given you the tools and knowledge to succeed, and we are excitedly looking forward to seeing what you accomplish beyond today in order to open more opportunities for yourselves to have more sources of income to cater for yourselves and your loved ones.”

The Managing Director of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, represented by the agency’s Executive Director of Finance, Mr Kunle Adebiyi, praised Globacom for the initiative, calling it a commendable step toward economic empowerment of the agency’s frontline workers.

Some participants showcased their skills in digital skills, baking, and fashion. Udoh Blessing, who took her mother’s place in the programme, showcased her digital skills and expressed gratitude for the opportunity. “What I have learnt, if I don’t make use of it, even God will be angry with me,” she said.

Mrs. Obadina Omowunmi Sarah was recognised for her excellence in baking, while Damilola Olowolafe emerged as the best in fashion designing. The Glo Skillbridge program is part of Globacom’s broader social impact agenda aimed at equipping Nigerians with practical, income-generating skills
