Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has taken a swipe at President Bola Tinubu over his remarks about playing a pivotal role in the emergence of the late Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s President.

Speaking during a session on X Space, Amaechi asserted that it was divine intervention that brought Buhari to power.

He further dared anyone with a different opinion to reveal the extent of their contribution toward Buhari’s victory.

Buhari served as Nigeria’s civilian President from 2015 to 2023. Before his 2015 win, he had made multiple unsuccessful attempts at securing the presidency.

Some narratives suggest that Tinubu’s political clout played a significant role in Buhari’s 2015 success.

While campaigning in Ogun State in 2022, Tinubu had declared that he backed Buhari’s rise to power, emphasizing that it was his turn in 2023 – “Emi Lokan”.

Amaechi said: “God and the Nigerian people chose Buhari as President over any other candidate.

“If somebody claims that Buhari became President because of them, they should explain how much they contributed and what else they did.”
