Don Goodman, a former striker for West Bromwich Albion, has suggested that Wayne Rooney join Manchester City so that he can be Pep Guardiola’s understudy.

The Manchester United legend was fired by Plymouth Argyle of the Championship following a disappointing stint at Home Park.

Although he had a successful football career as an England international, Rooney has not been happy since hanging up his boots.

Since deciding to pursue a career in management, he has coached Derby County, DC United, Birmingham City, and Plymouth Argyle, with a win percentage of 25.3.

The Englishman guided the Pilgrims to just 5 victories out of 25 games and 14 losses at his most recent position.

They appear doomed for relegation since they currently sit at the bottom of the Championship table.

According to Don Goodman, Rooney has accepted extremely challenging leadership positions thus far in his career.

According to reporters, Goodman said to Plejmo.com, “I do feel sorry for Wayne Rooney.” Each role he has played has been quite challenging.

“It’s difficult to see where he goes next. It’s hard to see him getting a manager role at any high level in the immediate future.

“I remember him joking about going to Manchester City and learning from Pep Guardiola previously.

“It sounds funny but it wouldn’t be the worst idea, would it when you look at what Mikel Arteta and Enzo Maresca learned?”
