The viral video that showed one of his daughters, Jane, asking the governor whether he wanted her to die as her mother did has prompted a response from Pastor Umo Eno, the governor of Akwa Ibom State.

Since then, the film has sparked a variety of interpretations. Some have said that the governor was responsible for the death of his late wife, Patience, while others have suggested that the matter caused a cold war between the family.

In response to questions from government house correspondents when he arrived at the Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort in Uyo on Saturday to celebrate the 60th birthday of former Deputy Governor Obong Nsima Ekere, the governor stated that his family is still together and that even the aforementioned Jane and other family members attended the celebration.

Eno questioned why, on the eve of his administration’s second anniversary, an incident that occurred right after his wife’s death the previous year would come to light and become popular, emphasizing that it was driven by politics.

He said, “We are in political times, so you expect more of that. My family is intact, and you can see everyone here with me. This teaches me that there are detractors around. My family is intact. You can see that Jane, herself is here, that’s Helen and her husband. So we have a good family.

The governor said he would not be sidetracked from serving Akwa Ibom people, but he also urged the public to refrain from bringing up painful memories because the loss of his wife was traumatic for him and the children.

In addition to wishing Obong Nsima Ekere a happy 60th birthday, Eno prayed for God to grant him the strength, longevity, health, and wisdom he needs to continue contributing to the advancement of the State and the Nation.
