In addition to a severe warning to improve performance in accordance with the administration’s People’s Charter of Needs manifesto, Francis Nwifuru, the governor of Ebonyi State, announced a minor cabinet reshuffle that includes four commissioners.

During a press briefing on the results of Monday’s State Executive Council meeting in Abakaliki, Ikeuwa Omebe, the recently appointed Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, revealed the reorganization on Tuesday.

In a bold step, Governor Nwifuru gave Commissioners Victor Chukwu for the Environment and Professor Amari Omaka for Tertiary Education a three-month grace period, threatening to remove them from office if they didn’t improve during that time.

The Executive Council also authorized the purchase and installation of Independent Captive Power Generation Plants, which are intended to supply certain public and private companies with 24-hour metered electricity as part of the state’s continuous industrialization efforts. The project will start at ICT University in Oferekpe, Agbaja, with a three megawatt plant.

The council also approved the Ebonyi State Economic Advisory Committee’s 15-member constitution.

Prof. Barth Nnaji will lead the committee, while Dr. Ben Odoh will be its secretary.

Information and State Orientation to Commissioner for Rural Development, Ikeuwa Omebe, from Commissioner for Rural Development to Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Professor Paul Awo Nwobasi, from Commissioner for Education (Primary and Secondary) to Commissioner for Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, and Donatus Ilang, from Commissioner for Border Peace and Conflict Resolution to Commissioner for Education (Primary and Secondary) are among the cabinet members impacted by the change.

For the good of the populace, Governor Nwifuru asked all appointees to evaluate their work and renew their dedication to the goals and vision of his government.
