The governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has denied rumors that he has a chosen candidate for the governorship in 2027.
The governor called the claims untrue and unfounded during a media conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat in Lafia, through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Mr. Peter Ahemba.
He urged the public to reject any claims made by candidates supported by the government, emphasizing that the people of Nasarawa have the last say in who will be the next governor.
A political appointee who feeds such rumors is participating in insubordination and will not be allowed to continue, Governor Sule warned.
He urged those vying for positions in his government to concentrate on governance and hold off on announcing their plans until the right moment.
During the final two years of his term, the governor pledged to bring democratic dividends.
He highlighted existing projects and important infrastructure improvements, including as the projected Keffi Flyover, the Akwanga project, and the Lafia Flyover and Underpass.
In an effort to raise their standard of living, he asked citizens to keep backing his administration.
